We are talking about networks that are potentially up to 100 times faster without costing the consumer any more. “The scratched glass we have developed is actually a photonic integrated circuit. This circuit uses the ‘scratch’ as a guide or a switching path for information—kind of like when trains are switched from one track to another—except this switch takes only one picosecond to change tracks.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_aQ6DIRxjmDg/SIrDL_FdSKI/AAAAAAAAADE/6sZWCvydd7Y/s320/Photonic-Integrated-Circuits1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227204928197183650" />

“This means that in one second the switch is turning on and off about one million times. We are talking about photonic technology that has terabit per second capacity,” lead researcher Ben Eggleton at the University of Sydney said. Though the initial demonstration has shown that it is possible to achieve speeds 60 times faster than many current networks, with further development, the process is likely to produce even faster results, according to the researchers.

“Currently we use electronics for our switching and that has been OK but as we move toward a more tech-savvy future there’s demand for instant web gratification. Photonic technology delivers what’s needed and, importantly, what is wanted,” he said The University of Sydney has developed the scratch in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark and financial support from the Australian Research Council.

BABY BOOM-the big mom of the galaxies !!

The scientists from Washington have discovered a new galaxy and have named it as the BABY BOOM. A galaxy is a cluster or a group of stars our earth too is a part of the galaxy which we call THE MILKYWAY GALAXY. Our own Milky Way galaxy witnesses the birth of ten stars every year while the newly discovered galaxy witnesses the birth of 4,000 stars every year, the scientist of the Californian University, Peter Kapak said “it seems that all the stars are born at once simultaneously, if it were the same case of human birth in such a manner at a same pace then the human race would be of the same age “this statement explain the nature and the age of the stars in the new galaxy.

The HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE of NASA discovered the group of stars, at the first appearance it looks like the colors on a canvas with bright spots of colors in the dark space. The discovery of this galaxy has contradicted the belief of scientists about the birth of the stars which, earlier were assumed to have taken birth from the leftovers of the elements in the galaxy, which slowly combined overtime resulting in the formation of stars.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_aQ6DIRxjmDg/SIltcMUthNI/AAAAAAAAAC8/mVjVMLhr6Oo/s320/258957main_A_starburst_Spitzer-226.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226829173652030674" />

The creation of stars in BABY BOOM galaxy appears as a daily routine of star birth. The galaxy has itself provides insight regarding the nature of the stars, star explosions and acting like a portal to the world of stars.
